At this year's annual Phi Theta Kappa International Conference in San Jose, California, Holmes Community College students garnered awards in almost every category. Most notably, the Kappa Alpha Chapter in Goodman was named Eighth Finalist in the Most Distinguished Chapter category. This is the sixth year in a row that a Holmes chapter has been named to the Top 10 internationally.

Holmes Community College Paralegal Technology Program Coordinator Darleen Dozier has been elected to serve as president for the Mississippi Paralegal Association.
According to a recent study released by CNNMoney, students who attend Holmes Community College are more likely to graduate or transfer to a four-year school than students who attend other community colleges nationwide.
The Holmes Community College men's soccer team finished second in the MACJC State Tournament yesterday at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville. Holmes defeated Jones on Saturday, 1-0, to advance to the MACJC Finals.

Hollis Watkins was and is a powerful voice in the Civil Rights movement. Watkins will be speaking on the struggle to vote in Mississippi during the time of the Civil Rights Movement on Oct. 16, on the Ridgeland Campus of Holmes Community College.

The Holmes Community College Paralegal Technology department will host the Third Annual Paralegal Assembly on the Ridgeland Campus on Monday, Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the D.P. "Pat" McGowan Workforce Training Center.
The Queen of Bluegrass, Rhonda Vincent, is scheduled to perform on the Grenada Campus of Holmes Community College at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27. The performance by the award-winning bluegrass singer and songwriter will be held in the school's Corey Forum.
Holmes Community College nursing student Bianca Green was recently elected to the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) Board of Directors for the 2012-2013 academic year. Green is the first Mississippi student to serve on the board for over 10 years.

Graduation numbers for the Holmes Community College Class of 2012, showed dramatic gains over last year with an astonishing 35.41 percent increase, leading the State's community college system in percentage of gain.
Holmes Community College was inducted into the Blackboard Collaborate Hall of Fame for Excellence in Collaboration's Class of 2012, which recognizes educators who have shown exemplary innovation and creativity in their use of the Blackboard Collaborate platform.

Traditional Face-2-Face registration will resume August 9 in Kosciusko, August 14 in Goodman and Eupora, August 15 and August 16h in Ridgeland and August 16 in Grenada.
Holmes Community College students received national recognition last week at the 48th Annual SkillsUSA Competition for Career and Technical students held last week in Kansas City, Missouri.
