Workforce - Ridgeland

D.P. McGowan Workforce Training Center

The $7.5 million workforce training center was designed to meet the increasing demands for business and industry training. “I think it is going to have a significant impact on economic development. We are also very excited about the possibility of bringing in seminars and workshops from not only around the state but around the nation,” said HCC President Dr. Glenn Boyce. The 50,000 square-foot center features a multi-media room with audiovisual equipment for presentations. It will seat about 130 people. It also features a computerized machining laboratory, an open classroom for lectures and a multipurpose laboratory. The conference room seats 20 and contains basic audio-visual equipment to facilitate presentations.

Features of the McGowan Workforce Training Center:
  • Multi-Media equipped seminar and training room which will seat over 140 people
  • Workforce Development Labs for Hydraulics, Programmable Logic Controllers, Mechanical Systems, Electricity, CNC programming, Machine Shop, Welding Shop, and other industrial training needs.
  • Computer Labs for Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and other software training needs
  • Conference room for your off-site meetings
  • Outdoor training space for forklift, articulating boom lift, and mobile crane

Workforce Training Program

This program is designed to provide contract training in a non-credit format for individuals and businesses. Courses are designed to meet specific training requirements of the company or the organization. This training may be in one or more of the following areas: training for workers on new equipment or processes, retraining for workers who must move to other positions within the firm, training for workers to advance to higher positions, and/or training in the basic skill areas for employees to become more effective and efficient. A variety of state, federal, and private funds are used to provide these cost-effective, efficient classes for individuals and businesses throughout the district. Course Outlines are available for courses that we teach. Note that course content is customizable to meet your needs. For course outlines please contact one of our staff members.
