Welcome to our Workforce Development Department
the Premier Resource for Advanced Manufacturing in Mississippi.
Thank you for stopping by to visit our site. We are passionate about delivering training that is relevant, world-class, flexible, easily accessible, and industry-driven. We offer courses and programs that relate to critical workforce needs and support the ever-changing dynamics in the workplace. Below is a small “sample” of what we do.
With wonderful facilities and state-of-the-art equipment, we have two “second-to-none” Advanced Manufacturing Centers that are located in Grenada and Ridgeland. We are the leader in Mississippi in providing training for the automotive industry. We invite you to visit those centers and see what we have to offer.
The ABE/GED program is a vital part of our department. We are actively involved in the dropout recovery initiative that is going on in the state and nation. We have strategically located our GED classes in many places throughout our district to take away the excuse of not being able to find a class. We provide GED testing monthly in Kosciusko and regularly in other locations. Learn More—Earn More
We have WIA Educational Coordinators housed in five Win Centers: Canton, Yazoo City, Lexington, Kosciusko, and Grenada. These coordinators advise prospective students about our regular college programs, available short-term training, such as Nursing Assistant, and GED classes. WIA provides the funding for many to go back to college to earn a degree and become a valuable part of the workforce. We applaud our great Win Center partnership.
We offer online workforce training for those people who cannot come to a regular class. Gatlin Educational Services and ed2go are our online partners. K-12 teachers can obtain CEUs through courses offered by ed2go. Many of the Gatlin courses are eligible for WIA funding.
We offer continuing education and “fun” community enrichment courses throughout our district. Our department is committed to lifelong learning. If you have an idea for a course for us to offer, contact us. Please look for the link on the workforce webpage for courses and workshops that we offer throughout the year.
We encourage you to find a workforce coordinator closest to you and give him/her a call.
