The Holmes Community College Library System is an essential part of the instructional life of Holmes Community College. The main library is located on the Goodman Campus and branches are located at the Grenada Center and Ridgeland Campus. The Library System is connected through an online district catalog system and a courier service. Each library location has an excellent collection of books, periodicals, newspapers, audiovisual materials, and computer resources available for patron use. Microform reader/printers and photocopiers are also available. The Holmes Community College Library System is committed to serving all members of the Holmes District as well as Distance Education users.
Computerized library services include Internet accessible terminals and an Online Public Access Catalog. E-books are available on site and off site by setting up a personal account. In addition, online databases can be obtained through the state-wide Magnolia Project, ProQuest, and MELO (Mississippi Electronic Libraries Online) which supports Distance Education (Online classes).
Each library has a professional librarian and an assistant librarian on staff to help patrons with their research needs. In addition to individual reference and research assistance, librarians teach library research methods to various classes and offer library orientation tours of the various libraries’ facilities and holdings.
Services offered: reference and research assistance; library orientation and instruction; material selection and acquisition; collections of books, periodicals, newspapers, indexes, audiovisuals, and equipment; computer resources including internet access, online public access catalog (OPAC), e-books, online databases, and word processing; interlibrary loan; photocopiers, FAX, and microform reader/printers.
