ACT Scholarships

Students who have an ACT composite of 20 or greater on the enhanced ACT may qualify for a scholarship based on the ACT test. Students receiving an ACT Scholarship must meet the following requirements each semester:
  • Complete all admission requirements prior to the third week of school
  • Be a full-time student taking 15 hours or more
  • Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA on all previous college work
  • Have an ACT composite of 20 or greater on the enhanced ACT test

The third week of the semester, the Registrar receives a printout from the computer department listing all students who are registered and who meet the above requirements. If the student has met all requirements stated above in addition to those listed in the college bulletin, the business office is notified to credit the student’s account for the specific scholarship as listed below:

Board of Trustees’ Scholarship:  This scholarship covers the cost of tuition and room & board for the fall and spring semesters for students with an ACT score of 28 or higher.  The Board of Trustees’ scholarship recipient is not eligible for other HCC scholarships because a student cannot receive scholarships greater than the published cost of attending school each semester.

President’s Scholarship: This scholarship covers one-half the cost of tuition and room & board with the exception of the matriculation fee and the student activities fee for students with an enhanced ACT composite of 24-27.

Dean’s Scholarship:  This scholarship covers the cost of tuition at Holmes Community College with the exception of the matriculation fee and the student activities fee.  It is available to students with an enhanced ACT composite of 20-23.

Students eligible for the President’s or Dean’s Scholarship are also eligible for other scholarships, such as athletics, music, drama, valedictorian or salutatorian, etc., up to, but not more than, the published cost of attending school each semester.
