Holmes Community College “Bulldog” Marching Band
The Holmes Community College “Bulldog” Marching Band is a progressive college marching band with entertainment and pageantry as a goal. The “Bulldog” Band has won first place in the Argus Mardi Gras Parade in Metairie, Louisiana, for two years in a row. The “Bulldog” Band performs at all home and most away football games and in various parades throughout the nine county districts. The Band rehearses four days a week for 2 hours after classes on the Goodman Campus. The marching band consists of horn line, percussion, color guard, feature twirlers, and drum majors.
Each band student receives band scholarship and one-hour college credit.
The Holmes Community College Band scholarship for instrumentalists (percussion & winds) is a full scholarship that covers room, board, and tuition each semester of good standing with the band department and the college. Non-instrumental Color Guard scholarships are also $800.00 for the Fall Semester. Twirler-Majorette scholarships are available in the same amount as non-instrumentalists at $800.00 per fall semester. Band manager positions are available each semester with a scholarship of $800.
Auditions for Drum Major and Guard are held each spring semester in the Frank B. Branch Coliseum on the Goodman Campus of Holmes Community College for the Fall Marching Season. An instrumentalist in these two groups also receives a full band scholarship for the year, as long as they play in the concert band in the spring semester.

Holmes Jazz Band
The Holmes Community College Jazz band is a select group of musicians who enjoy playing jazz, swing, and progressive styles of music. The “big band” group consists of brass, woodwinds, keyboard, a singer, and a rhythm section performing many on and off campus concerts throughout the school year. A highly energized group, the jazz band offers the student a chance to play pop and standard jazz music not offered in other bands. This band rehearses two times per week and receives one credit hour at the college.
The Holmes Jazz Band is taken from the Holmes Marching Band except for an occasional pianist, guitarist, or singer.

The other group is made up of students who have played a steel pan for at least one school year.
Each group meets once or twice a week. Each student receives one hour of credit for steel band participation. Please contact Jeffrey Brown (jbrown@holmescc.edu) for more details.
