Step 1 Apply for Admission to Holmes Community College.

Step 2 Apply for a PIN. We encourage students and parents of dependent students to apply for a PIN (personal identification number) and to use the PIN as the electronic signature when filing your FAFSA online. Note: Both the student and one parent need their own PIN.

Step 3 Complete the FAFSA (Holmes’ School Code is 002408)*. You may complete a paper FAFSA or via the FAFSA website at : http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. You should receive your response (Student Aid Report-SAR) within 2-3 weeks. Please retain this SAR for your records. If you are interested in applying for work-study** or student loans, please make sure to indicate this on the FAFSA.

Step 4 Apply for State Aid (MTAG, MESG, etc.) available through the Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid at www.ihl.state.ms.us.

Step 5 The Financial Aid Office will contact you regarding any additional information needed to complete your file. Please check your status via the school's 'My Doghouse' portal. Make sure that all documents requested by the Financial Aid Office are returned promptly. (Documents requested may include signed students’ and/or parents’ tax returns, verification forms, other forms, or documents required by federal, state, and HCC to complete your file.)

Step 7 Students who have not completed the above steps prior to the “payment due date” given on the billing statements should contact the Business Office to arrange a fee payment plan.

*If you have applied for Admission to Holmes Community College and not received a response from the Admission Office, please contact the Admissions Office to check on your status. Only those students completing all admissions requirements are eligible to receive financial aid funding.

Students awarded work-study must complete the hours assigned and are compensated monthly. If you are interested in applying for a work-study position, please complete the Holmes Community College Work-Study Information form and return to the Financial Aid Office. The Financial Aid Office will contact eligible students about placement procedures.
