Spring online registration
for online classes will reopen
December 1st.
Spring online classes start January 19th. You must log in to My Doghouse to register for Fall online classes. Once you are in My Doghouse, click on the e-Learning tab and follow the directions in the e-Learning Registration channel.
If you are put on Academic suspension the previous term, you will be withdrawn from your classes.
Rules and Steps for Registering into Online Courses.
Please read carefully - all information is very important! Some changes have been made since last semester.
-
Advising. First, talk with your designated advisor or counselor to make sure you are taking the correct courses.
"Some colleges do not accept lab-based sciences taken via e-learning. For example, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, the Pre-Dental, Pre-Pharmacy, and Pre-Medicine programs will not accept lab-based sciences taken via e-learning. Please check with the school(s) to which you plan to apply."

Students must satisfy all pre- or co-requisites for certain courses. (For example, English Composition II requires that you have passed English Composition I.) If a student does not meet pre- or co-requisite requirements, registration for that class will be denied.
If you have not taken the ACT, you must take the HCC placement tests prior to registration. Placement test are offered in the areas of Mathematics, English, and Reading. For further information and to make an appointment, contact:
2. Orientation. All first time students must participate in orientation. Click here to complete the orientation process.
3. Maximum Number of Hours. As indicated in the Holmes catalog, a student cannot register for more than 21 total hours per term. If you request online courses that will put you over a TOTAL (the sum of your day, evening, and online courses) of 21 hours, your entire online registration will be denied. We highly recommend that you do not take 21 hours with some of them being online classes. Students who attempt this have a very low rate of success. Online courses take more time than traditional courses, not less.
In the Summer Session, students can only take a total of 18 hours.
4. Registering for classes. Before registering for online courses, you must have completed the following:
-
Complete all admission requirements and give the Admissions & Records Office sufficient time to process your information. This includes updating your application and/or sending transcripts from other institutions.
-
If you have been a student at Holmes before, but are not currently enrolled you must update your admissions application first.
-
Cleared all Library or Business Office Holds.
-
-
"Some colleges do not accept lab-based sciences taken via distance learning. For example, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, the Pre-Dental, Pre-Pharmacy, and Pre-Medicine programs will not accept lab-based sciences taken via distance learning. Please check with the school(s) to which you plan to apply."
-
Your registration will be thrown out if you have not taken care of the above list. We will not hold a spot for you! You may complete the registration form by entering your personal information and selecting your desired course(s). Submitting this form does not guarantee that you are registered for those courses.
It is the student's responsibility to confirm his/her registration after waiting three (3) business days for it to be processed. Emails will not be sent out to confirm your registration. You may only submit one original registration form per term, so make sure you know what you want to take when you go to fill out the form. If you need to make changes, see the information below about adding and dropping classes. There is now a $10 charge to make any changes to your original online schedule.
New changes for the online registration page. A. For student ID use your Holmes' "H" number. B. For email you must use your Holmes email address.
If you are not sure what your Holmes' "H" number is or your Holmes email address please contact the Holmes Help Desk 1-888-HCC-4HLP. (1-888-422-4457) |
You must log in to My Doghouse to register for Fall online classes. Once you are in My Doghouse, click on the My e-Learning tab and follow the directions in the e-Learning Registration channel.
Reasons why your registration might be denied:
-
Incomplete admissions. You lack one or more of the following:
-
Hold on your account
-
Lacking pre- or co-requisites
-
Attempting to register for more than 21 hours (or 18 hours in the summer)
5. Confirming Registration. Once you have submitted your registration form, it is the student's responsibility to confirm the registration by logging into the Student Profile after you have waited 3 business days of submitting the request. Your student profile is not official until we have verified it, which is why you must wait 3 business days. We will not send any emails regarding your registration. Once you have confirmed your registration, you are now an "Active Student" and should look at the "Active Student" area of the Holmes e-learning web site.
If you can log into the student profile, but some data is incorrect, email hguest@holmescc.edu with the corrections. If you cannot log into the student profile site 3 days after you have submitted the form, there was a problem with your registration. Make sure you have completed all the appropriate steps for admissions and then attempt to register again or call the e-Learning Office at 662-472-9162.
6. ADD / DROP The add/drop has been moved into the "My Doghouse"
7. Withdrawing from class. (read !!!!)
