Tryouts for the 2008-2009 Holmes Community College Dazzlers have been scheduled. The HCC Dazzler Dance Team will be offered performance scholarships. Maroon Squad will be offered $1000 per semester and the White Squad will receive $550 for the fall semester only. For further information concerning the responsibilities of each group, please view the Dazzler Overview on the HCC-Dazzler web-site. Any student wishing to join the team will be required to live on the Goodman Campus as they are scholarship students. Managers will also be selected for the program and will receive $500 per semester. Managers are selected for fall and spring semesters. Managers must attend at least one of the tryouts. Below is relevant information concerning tryouts.
When: Two tryouts will be held. An applicant must attend only ONE tryout and may choose which day to attend. However, it is preferred that applicants attend the March 25th date. The two possible dates are:
Where: Tryouts will be held in the Frank B. Branch Coliseum at Holmes Community College in Goodman.
What to bring/wear: Please bring a small photo of yourself with your application to tryouts. The photo will not be returned. Come dressed in workout clothes consisting of black (or dark colored) workout pants and a form– fitting shirt. Please no baggy tops. You also need to have your music (CD) for your freestyle dance.
Requirements: Dance experience is preferred, but NOT REQUIRED! Three dance Techniques will be taught and evaluated– leap, single pirouette, and Toe-touch. There will also be a short dance routine taught for evaluation. Any additional technique skills an applicant wishes to show are accepted, but not required.
Selection Process: After the May tryout, the panel of judges will meet to determine squad selection and placement. There will be a notification letter sent out to all those asked to join the squads. A meeting for the new dance team will soon follow the mail-out of this letter.
Applications: Anyone wishing to tryout for the dance team or become a manager must fill out an application. Be sure to fill out the appropriate application (dancer vs. manager). You must bring this application with you along with a photo to tryouts.
