HOLMES COMMUNITY COLLEGE ANNOUNCES 2008 RECRUITING CLASS

Holmes Community College announced the signing of eleven incoming freshman for 2008 season. The recruiting class is highlighted by four players from the Mississippi High School Activity Association’s 4A back to back state champion Pearl Pirates as well as four additional student-athletes who finished within the Clarion Ledger’s top 15 final polling. “With the signing of these eleven young men I am sincerely looking forward to the upcoming season. Holmes Community College signed two additional high school seniors this past week as Mark Downing and Kyle Greene both signed NJCAA National Letters of Intent to play for the Bulldogs in 2008. Downing, a midfielder for the 2008 Mississippi High School Activity Association 5A State Champion Northwest Ranking Cougars while Greene, a midfielder and four year starter, for the Madison Ridgeland Academy Patriots. Both are members of the Chicago Fire Juniors of Mississippi ’90 Red where they play for coach Trey Woodham. “These are two fine selections for us. Mark is very skillful as well as deceptive on the ball which combined with his work ethic will make him a great midfielder at the community college level. Kyle will provide a great deal of athleticism in the midfield and is an excellent ball winner. I am looking forward to helping both of them transition to soccer at the next level.” said Holmes’ Head Coach Matt Convertino.
